Men's Snowboard Slopestyle
Mark McMorris is having a stellar start to the season, winning men's Snowboard Slopestyle a week after winning Air + Style Beijng. Ståle Sandbech made it to second place, fans were no doubt thrilled to see him on the podium again. He threw down an incredibly clean run, but McMorris’ run was “squeakiest” as one fan aptly said. The lesser-known Darcy Sharpe was in third, proving Dew Tour is no longer dominated by the same riders year after year.
Men's Freeski Slopestyle
Gus Kenworthy may not have qualified highest, but he sure made up for it with an almost flawless run, winning the event. Jossi Wells came in second.
Men's Snowboard Superpipe
Yesterday, it had been on everyone's minds that we hadn't seen Shaun White win anything in almost two years. So what a relief, and surprise, it was to see him win the men's Superpipe.
The two-time Olympic champ was on fire, with a pair of 1080s and patented double McTwist 1260, scorin 92.60.
“It's good to be back”, White said. Well, it's good to see you back Mr White. He went on to say he's “more motivated than ever” to compete at Pyeongchang 2018. It's certainly possible.
Olympic silver medalist Ayumu Hirano came in second and Sochi champ IPod finished third.
Women's Snowboard Superpipe
Liu Jiayu won the women's Superpipe, while X Games champ Chloe Kim took second place.
Three-time Olympic medalist, Kelly Clark, grabbed the third spot, proving once again that her experience is still enough to make the podium, as she's been doing at almost every competition she competes in. Legend? Yep.
Men's Freeski Superpipe
David Wise took the first spot, and Beau-James Wells came in second. Many had thought it could be another French sweep like the last major freeski event. But his rightside 900 to a leftside double cork 1260 to a rightside 1080 into a switch cork 720, finished off with a rightside double cork 1260 beat all the competition.
It was a sweeter victory, considering he had a rough first run. “"I fell on my first run, which is uncharacteristic of me. Usually, if I'm going to do well, I land my first run and then kind of cruise, so that was a lot of pressure for me”. But he did win an Olympic gold medal, so the X factor that got him that medal got him this win.
